National and regional grants and subsidies to support new energies and the water and environment sector

Faced with the challenges of the environment and the energy transition, the French government has set national acceleration strategies to finance innovation through the France 2030 and PIA4 programs. With regard to renewable energies and the environmental sector, three major strategies stand out:

Deployment of recycling and reincorporation of materials

France must develop local, high-performance recycling channels. This strategy targets 5 key materials : plastics, composites, textiles, strategic metals, and paper/board. It aims to create more efficient recycling solutionsstrengthen human capabilities in the sector and to establish recycling units, especially for batteries, and adapt industrial tools. The strategy covers all stages of recycling, from the design of more recyclable products to the preparation and incorporation of recycled materials into new products.

Development of bio-based products and sustainable fuels

The aim is to develop industrial biotechnologies in France and promote manufacture of bio-based products, including fuels from sustainable resources such as biofuels and synthetic fuels. The aim is to create research programs, support start-ups and developing sectors for sustainable fuels and promote biobased products through standards and labels.

Development of advanced energy systems technologies

This strategy aims to develop a French industry for new energy technologies to strengthen energy independence, create jobs and meet growing demand for renewable energies and electrification. Three priority sectors have been identified: photovoltaic, floating wind, and energy networks. These fields offer great potential for transforming the French economy and society, while stimulating economic growth.
